Baker-Media Code of Conduct, User Agreement,
Classified Rules & Copyright
We have a very basic set of rules here at Baker-Media to govern
our websites. We fully encourage open discussions and debates between our
members, but we also expect our members to keep these discussions and debates
civil and be respectful to all other visitors to the site(s). By
registering an account on any of our websites, you willingly agree to follow and
abide by the terms of use as outlined below.
General Code of Conduct
-
All visitors are to treat other visitors with dignity and
respect. Differences in opinion are to be expected in open debates and
discussions. However, during the course of these debates and discussions
it is imperative that all involved refrain from letting the conversation get
personal. Any visitor who resorts to name calling, profanity or becomes
unruley in the course of a discussion will be warned once. If said
visitor fails to heed that warning and continues to act in an aggressive,
disrespectful or rude manner they will be banned from the forum(s).
-
Obscene language will not be tolerated. Our forums are
meant to be child friendly and family oriented, and as such we request that
you refrain from using any foul language. Posts containing foul language
will be edited by the forum staff. If a particular user is found to
continually ignore this request and persists in using profane language he or
she will be banned from the forum(s).
-
Racial, ethnic and/or religious slander will not be tolerated
at all. Any visitor who chooses to promote such ignorance in their posts
will be banned from the forum(s) immediately and without warning.
General Classified Rules
Transactions taking place in our classified boards rely on the
Honor System. We have had very few bad experiences in the past with
deadbeat buyers or scam artists, and we fully intend to keep that reputation.
The following are the basic rules governing the use of our classified boards.
-
The General Classified boards are for use by regular visitors
to our forum(s) and are not intended for commercial manufacturers or retailers
to list their goods. Any ad placed within the General Classifieds by a
commercial manufacturer or retailer will be deleted immediately. Repeat
offenders will be banned.
-
Classified ads may contain no more than three (3) items per
listing, and all items within the ad must be relative to the board in which
they are listed. If parting out a firearm, the components of that
firearm constitute one (1) item, but if it includes a scope or mounts they
must be listed separately in the Optics classified board and not in the
Firearms/Parts board with the rifle itself.
-
All ad topics must begin with one of the following
abbreviations: WTB (want to buy), WTS (want to sell), or
WTT (want to trade). An example of a proper topic title would
appear as follows: "WTS - Leupold VX-III 4.5-14x40mm LR Scope".
Ads found to have been placed without a proper prefix will be deleted by the
our staff and no refund for the listing fee will be given.
-
All ads must include a price for each item listed and the
forms of payment that will be accepted (Cash, Money Order, PayPal, etc.).
If looking to trade you should specify specifically what you are looking to
trade for. Any ad placed without a specific price or trade item will be
deleted by our staff and no refund for the listing will be given. In
other words, don't post an ad that simply says "make me an offer" or "will
trade for ?".
-
The first person to post a reply or send a PM stating "I'll
take it" gets the item in question. All posts and PM's are time stamped,
so if multiple replies or PM's are received the seller can clearly distinguish
who was the first to lay claim to the item.
-
Once an item has been laid claim to by a buyer, it is the
sellers responsibility to go back and edit his/her original post and add
SPF (sold pending funds) to the end of the topic. An example of a
proper edit would appear as follows: "WTS - Leupold VX-III
4.5-14x40mm LR Scope - SPF". This will let other classified
visitors know that the item is spoken for and prevent them from flooding you
with inquiries as to whether the item is still available or not.
-
Communication between the buyer and seller is critical to
ensure a pleasant and speedy transaction. This communication should
continue through the transaction process until the seller receives his/her
money and the buyer receives the item being purchased.
-
Buyers - are responsible for sending out the funds in the
requested manner in a timely manner, and to inform the seller when they
receive the item they have purchased.
-
Sellers - are responsible for providing the information
necessary for the buyer to make payment in a timely manner, and to inform
the buyer that they have received the funds for the item and the date it was
shipped out to them (we highly recommend you request a tracking number for
any package being shipped).
-
Once a transaction has been completed (seller has received
funds and buyer has received item), the seller is required to go back to
his/her original post and edit the topic title once more to indicate the item
has sold. Simply delete the existing text in the topic title field and
replace it with the word "Sold" or "Delete".
This will let our staff know that the transaction has been completed and it is
ok for us to delete the listing.
-
Buyers and Sellers are encouraged to use our Trader feedback
system after a transaction has been completed. This system allows you to
leave feedback for the buyer or seller regarding the transaction, and will
help let others know which buyers/sellers know who is safe to deal with and
who is not.
-
All classified ads will be purged from the database after
thirty (30) days of inactivity. To prevent your listing from being
purged, simply post a reply to the topic stating "BTT" (back to
top) or "still available" on a weekly basis to keep it active.
Once the listing has been purged there is no way to recover it.
-
Any buyer or seller found to be acting fraudulently on our
forums will be dealt with swiftly. First time offenders will have their
classified access suspended for a period of 30 days. If a second offense
is reported they will be banned from the forum(s). Offenses include, but
are not limited to:
-
Buyer backing out of a transaction after committing to
purchase the item.
-
Buyers payment is no good (bad check or fake money order)
-
Seller blatantly misrepresents the condition of the item(s)
listed or lists items that they do not possess
-
Seller fails to ship the item(s) to the buyer
All transactions are solely between the buyer and seller.
Any disputes over the transaction are the sole responsibility of the buyer or
seller. Baker-Media and it's staff can not be held responsible for
transactions gone wrong and will not intervene on the behalf of either party
other than as has been specified in the rules above. No exceptions.
Vendor Classified Rules
-
Commercial manufacturers and vendors who purchase advertising
on one or more of our websites is entitled to a free Vender Classified Board
if they choose to have one. Only those vendors who intend to regularly
check their board, place listings, and/or answer questions directed to them
about their products should elect to have a dedicated board. If a vendor
elects to have a board and fails to utilize it on a regular basis it will be
removed.
-
Listings within the vendor classifieds should be limited to
sale items, special promotions, or current inventory. DO NOT list
items that you do not have in stock and ready for immediate shipment.
-
Vendors are urged to regularly clear out their boards of
expired listings or listings for items they no longer have in inventory.
To do this simply open the thread you wish to remove, scroll to the bottom of
the page, and click on the "Remove Topic" button in the lower
left corner. A box will open asking you to verify that you wish to
delete that post. Click "OK" to remove the post or "Cancel"
to keep it.
-
We ask that vendors not keep ongoing threads within their
boards. If a thread exceeds 10 pages, lock and delete that topic and
start a new one.
-
Your dedicated vendor board will only be active while you are
currently running an ad campaign on one or more of our websites. When
your ad campaign expires, so does your dedicated board.
